Authorities in Florida reported that gunfire broke out temporarily in midtown Orlando, where thousands of people were gathered to celebrate Halloween, killing two people, injuring six, and capturing a 17-year-old.

According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, officials responded to shots fired around 1 a.m. on Friday near the intersection of Focal Lane and Orange Road before witnessing a second shooting close to the Washington Road and Orange Road traffic light.

Six people were rushed to Orlando Provincial Clinical Center, where they are in stable condition, according to Smith. Two of the people shot were articulated dead. None of the individuals in question have been identified, and their ages range from 19 to 39.

A 17-year-old suspect was apprehended by police at the scene of the subsequent shooting. Smith said it's unclear if the alleged shooter realized individuals being referred to and said police were investigating a reasoning.

This is still a functioning test. "We will provide you with another update as we collect additional data," he stated.

When the suspect moved toward one of the people in question and discharged a handgun, police released an emotional observation video showing a large number of people on Orange Road. This caused commotion as the group responded to the shots and people fled in various directions. In no time at all, the person in question was surrounded by roughly eight officials.

Before additional shots were fired and a new chaotic scene unfolded, video showed the suspect hurrying into a crowd a few seconds later. One of the officials who had witnessed the shooting forces the adolescent to the ground as the suspect leaves, according to recordings.

According to Smith, the incident occurred on one of the city's busiest evenings of the year. In celebration of Halloween, between 50,000 and 100,000 people, many of whom were dressed in costumes, crowded the streets of downtown Orlando. Around one hundred officials provided security for the event.

Smith stated, The vast majority are down there to live it up, and obviously you typically have those people who descend there who have a variety of things at the forefront of their thoughts.

Andrew Bain, the State Attorney for the Orange and Osceola Region, stated that this office has not yet received the case. He stated that the youngster could be charged as an adult in light of the available evidence.

He stated at a news conference early on Friday, There are few disturbing variables that would incline us to charge him as a grownup, but we want to make quick work of the examination first.

According to the Firearm Viciousness Document, a charity that defines mass shootings as incidents involving at least four casualties, the attack was one of approximately 439 mass shootings that occurred in the United States this year.
